A suggestion...

Review the directions for your section of the project and make sure you are REALLY answering the questions (not just collecting pictures for pretty powerpoint flare).
Report to me through the blog that you are indeed answering some specific questions....
I expect to see some real progress.

  1. Most of the hisroty of the making of the film is not online which is understandable. I think my group is plannng on hiting up the DVD for some special features and and maybe some behind the scenes.

NOt to much information on the book and its making other than Frank Miller wrote it back in 1886.

  2. Definition 1:A Grapic novel is a self-contained narrative that depicts the vision usually of a single author and illustrator and is presented by combining words with sequential art.
Definition 2: A longer and more artful version of comics bound as a book, including lengthy and complex storylines.
This weekend I will figure out which definition is good for Spiderman.
    What do you think??

  3. -Jeanette, What role did Stan Lee play in the production of the movie version of Spiderman? Looking in the special features section of the movie is a great idea for a source.
-On another note,In Newswwek this week Louisa Thomas recommends the graphic novel "Stitches". She describes it as "a beautifully drawn, tragicomic graphic memoir about a childhood from hell. It is written by David Small. Newsweek, October 19,2009,pg. 54 if you are interested.

  5. Today while researching superheroes, i found out that to some extent there was a modeling of superman after jesus. He comes from the sky, from his father, and uses his powers to better humanity, making him a sort of messiah. Also he originally started his heroism saving poor workers from bad conditions during the great depression

  6. Iron Man has won and was nominated for many awards since its came out. The are all listed here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0371746/awards
Iron Man made a run at the tops for movies made from comic books. Even though they are not Spiderman or The Dark Knight with possibly another sequel, you could see Iron Man move even higher up the chains and top the list of movies made from comics book chart. The upcoming Iron Man movie could make it a top movie.

  7. I watched an interview my partents taped of Carson Daly interviewing Stan Lee. This is what Stan Lee had to say:

Carson Daly asked him what movies got it right. Stan Lee said Spiderman, X-Men, and Iron Man. He said Robert Downy jr. really got into the Iron Man character. Robert asked him a lot of questions. Carson asked Stan if he was going to do anything with vampires because they are the new thing. Stan Lee said he doesn't want to feel like he's following the trend (but he may do something if there's money in it). When Carson Daly asked Mr. Lee how changes in technology are changing the media and he talked about his series "Time Jumper". It is a cross between a comic book and animation. It is drawn like a comic book but the characters move in their own way, and there are words on the screen. It's getting a great reaction and can be downloaded on iTunes. When Carson Daly asked Stan Lee what time period he'd like to jump into he said the future. He said he could read a history book to find out what happened in the past, but he wants to know what's coming. Stan Lee said the future of entertainment is when the viewer can be part of the story, and "Time Jumper" is leading the pack. He also talked about Disney purchasing the Marvel characters and thinks this is a good thing. He said there are many Marvel characters that haven't been tapped into, and Disney is the best at marketing, promoting, and producing characters. He thinks this is the best thing that could have happened for young people and families.

It was interesting and I learned a lot from watching the interview with Stan Lee.

  8. Ms. Elkins, Stan Lee has a cameo role in many Marvel movies. In Spiderman 1 and 2, he played a man saving civilians from falling debris. In Spiderman 3 he plays a man in Times Square and walks up to Peter Parker and says "I guess one person can make a difference. 'Nuff Said."

  9. Jeanette, that is so interesting that Stan Lee actually had a role in the movies. How fun for him. The interview with Carson Daly looked interesting. I found it interesting that he is a business man as well as artist in that he could be swayed by money to do vampires. I agree with his idea of going into the future to see something that hasn't yet been done and the idea of interactive comics made me think maybe I should finally join the computer age!!
